Scrap Happy!

Here are some layouts I finished recently.
This one is for "The Recipe Box Challenge" with my homeys.

I used some older photos for these.

I am currently dealing with identity theft, not so fun! Some one used my PayPal account to make two separate transactions totaling $800! Have you ever tried to talk to a real live person at PayPal? Well let me tell you it is nearly impossible. I was wanting to scrap tonight, but after being on hold for what seemed like an eternity the mojo stopped flowing. :0(

What I've been up to

I finished these books. One while I was still on vacation and the other on Tuesday. It was a good series!

Wednesday was the kids' first day back at school. They are now in 3rd and 5th grade. I took so many pictures of them, here is one of my favorites.

That's about all I have to say today. I am feeling totally exhausted since we've come home from vacation. Hubby has been sick since we returned from vacation, so I have not been sleeping well. I am hoping to get "caught up" on the weekend.

Vacation blogging: Day 6

Today is my son Tanner's 8th birthday! My baby turned 8 today, WOW!
He was up at 2 am this morning ready to open his presents! We, of course, did not open them at that time as much as he would have loved to! We woke up and promptly opened presents and then played board games. This afternoon we went to the San Diego Zoo. That place is enormous!!!! We saw lots of wonderful exhibits.
When we left the zoo we went to Balboa Park for some football and picture taking. There is such wonderful architecture here. I could marvel at the buildings (or these guys) for hours.
For dinner Tanner wanted to go to Phil's Barbecue for ribs. Oh how I wish I had brought my camera into the restaurant! My husband and sons faces were smeared with barbecue sauce!
Afterwards it was off to home for more board games and cupcakes (yummy)!

Vacation blogging: Day 6

Today was pretty chill, not much on the agenda for today. NICE! We went to Outback Steakhouse, I haven't been there for years! We went to Target to get some wrapping paper for my sons birthday gifts. That pretty much sums up the day! I was wonderfully uneventful.
I finished this book today, 2nd in the series. Good stuff!

Check out this mouthwatering goodness that I spied! I think I'm in love!!!!!

Vacation blogging: Day 5

Legoland

Today we went to Legoland and the Sealife Aquarium. Before we even entered the park my husband quickly replaced me for a new and improved Lego wife and child.

So, naturally, I needed to find myself a new man as well! It's only fair, right?

This place is seriously cool though. You cannot imagine the things that they make out of Lego's.

These are not made of Lego's, but are super cool all the same!

Vacation blogging: Day 4

Day 4
Rocks and Ice Cream: The little things

Today was a mellow day. The kids and Dave went to the beach and I happily stayed home. When they got back we went back down to Old Town San Diego . We walked around town and ate dinner at Cafe Coyote. They have a bar where you can watch a them make fresh tortilla's from scratch. I don't know it was so fascinating, but it was. Then we went to a South American rock shop. They sold crystals, minerals, etc... My kids were in HEAVEN! Since they were very small they have had a love affair with rocks. Seriously. They each have a rock collection that rivals the others. My daughter has a large plastic container that slides under her bed that is full of rocks. They collect them from various places that we have been over the years, and as far as they are concerned, each is a treasure. So, naturally, this rock shop was full of wonder for them. They each got to chose a little something from the shop. My daughter chose a piece of quartz and citrine. My son chose a large crystal that he calls his diamond. They wrapped them up and up them in a brown paper bag. He walked through the town clutching his bag, occasionally peeking inside to make sure his precious stone was still in there. When we got home he carefully took it out of the bag and closely examined it and stroked it's surface. He was delighted.

We bought the kids ice cream cones, and again they were so excited! I love that two very simple things like rocks and ice cream can send them over the moon!

“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.”

Vacation blogging: Day 2 & 3

I have fallen a bit behind on my intentions to blog our vacation. Oh well, I am on vacation. :0) Alrighty, let's see...

Sunday- day 2 We went to a beach aptly named "Dog beach". I am willing to bet that you can guess why. I don't know why I didn't get a picture of the absolutely joyous mayhem that was taking place as more dogs than humans ran around the beach. I have never seen such a site in all of my life! I seemed as though every single type of dog known to mankind was in attendance that day, andhappily playing along with each other. It was quite delightful to watch. The kids were in the water constantly, and if they had their way, would still be there. They did however take a brief break to do this...

We came home after a few hours at the beach and barbecued dinner and ate alfresco. After we ate we took a walked down to the beach and watched the sunset.

On the way home we stopped at a yogurt shop for s refreshing treat then came home and played cards.

Day 3

Today we went to the USS Midway. It was enormous, easily 2 blocks long. When you board you are given a set of headphones for the audio tour. It was cool to listen to the explanations of what we were looking at and hear commentary from people who actually served on the ship. You are free to go most places on the ship at your own pace. It was like a giant maze that one could easily get lost in.

We went down to the Brig (jail). We became momentary prisoners.

The kids got to sit in the cockpit of quite a few planes which they thoroughly enjoyed, though it paled in comparison to getting to flying a flight simulator!
This thing was crazy! It went every which way you can think of, which made me and Tanner kind of sick. We chose to end our ride before it's 3 minute time limit. Believe me, it was none too soon!

When we left the ship we went to check out an enormous statue of the famous photo of a WWII Navy soldier kissing a nurse in time square called "Unconditional Surrender".

Then we went down to the historic Gaslamp Quarter. We did some shopping and got the kids some cool new kicks for school.
We went to dinner at Sardina's then drove around in Old Town San Diego.
We came home and played a few hands of Uno and watched the Olympics. I stayed up late finishing this book.

Vacation blogging: Day 1

So since we actually do get internet here I am going to try to do some vacation blogging. I think it will be a great way to journal our events while we are away to help me later remember what we did (so I can scrap it)! So with that, here is the update...

Yay, we made it! We are here in beautiful San Diego. On the way down the kids REALLY wanted to see the Hollywood walk of fame. We surprised them by taking a little detour down to Hollywood and Beverly Hills. They were so excited!

When we got back on the road we hit some mad traffic! Ugh! So we finally made it after adding an hour and a half to our time.

We got into our house and got settled in. It is a darling house that is decorated in , your guessed it, a beach theme! Not gaudy or over done, very tasteful and cute! Here is a picture of the kids chillin' in their room.

There are two twin beds in there and they are psyched about getting to share a bedroom (go figure)!

We had dinner at a little restaurant called Gringo's. The food was delicious and my daughter complimented the waitress on how fast the service was (LOL). This little kid at the table next to us taught us a funky little trick that consisted of some twisting and turning of your arms. Weird, but kinda fun! After that we walked down to Mission Beach. The water was great.

We came home and my husband and daughter went to the store while my son and I stayed home with the doggy. We played a few games of "Trouble", which apparently I ROCK at. No mercy people, even for the little one. hehehe

Okay, so that is about all for day one. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Did some scrapping

It felt so good to get some scrapping done today. I probably should have started packing for our trip, but this was much more fun!

I did this one for a challenge with my girls (scrappin' homeys). I used icons for my journaling and gave my little peeps Hambly belts and put their "hearts on their sleeves".

This one was more of a statement/therapy page. I saw this image and thought to myself, "AMEN!". So, I made a page as a little reminder to myself. I really like the image of the woman sweeping. To me it represents cleaning, starting fresh, out with the old and in with the new! The page reads: "In life, there are soem things you want around all the time. As for the rest? It's time to say... good riddance. Thank you 4 making it easy".
That is not to say that it is ever easy to move on. Sometimes though, the way people behave make it easier to walk away.

She lives!!!!!

Hi there. I have been a little MIA lately. I have had SO much going on. We had my daughters birthday, I moved to a new salon, yada, yada, yada!

We are getting ready to go on vacation again on Saturday. I am excited. We are going to San Diego and are going to Legoland. They have a new Sea Life Aquarium that opens four days before we are going. I am excited to see it.
We are also going to visit The San Diego Zoo. I have never been to this zoo, so I am very excited to go. The only other activity we have planned other than playing on the beach is touring the Navy aircraft carrier USS Midway. Now retired, it served for 47 years spanning the end of WWII to Desert Storm. No other carrier served as long as the USS Midway. I am excited to see it in real life.

My husband is really looking forward to going to Mission Beach. It is famous for it's surfing and he can't wait to go! He has looked into getting the kids surfing lessons. Hmmmm..... I just wonder what that is going to be like. We went to Hawaii several years ago and he got me up on a board. On that same trip it was critical to him that we visit Sunset Beach on the North Shore. It is world famous for it's big wave surfing in the winter and is the site of many surfing competitions, including The Triple Crown of Surfing. Waves here can reach upwards of 50 feet! And of course when we visited Half Moon Bay we had to go to Mavericks. Surfing here is no joke! Are you seeing a pattern here people? I wouldn't say that he is obsessed, but whatever is close to that is what he is (and I love him for it)!
Here is a quick video of a local Maverick's surfer named "Flea" surfing a 61 foot wave and a photo from this years big wave competition.

Can you tell that I am really looking forward to this? I am so excited to get away with my family for some fun in the sun and some much needed rest and relaxation. Only sixteen more days of summer and the kids go back to school! This will be our last get away of the season.

I suppose that is it for now. I don't think that our vacation rental has WiFi, so I may be internet-less. What on Earth will I do? I will leave you with some new words that you can add to your vernacular. They are from The Daily Candy Lexicon. If you click on them a larger version should appear.
